Hogan Transports Selects ALK|FleetSuite Directions
PC*MILER-Based Directions Assures Accuracy, Reduces Communications Costs

February 26, 2008 – Princeton, NJ - ALK Technologies, Inc., the leading worldwide developer of GPS navigation, routing, mileage, and mapping software, today announced that Hogan Transports, a unit of Hogan Inc., has implemented ALK | FleetSuite Directions for its truckload fleet.

Hogan Inc., based in St. Louis, Missouri, provides leasing, logistics and transportation services. The company’s truckload unit, Hogan Transports, offers premium, single and team-driver truckload service nationwide, with a fleet of approximately 1,000 trucks. Hogan has been in the transportation business since 1918, and lives up to its slogan, “large enough to serve, yet small enough to care”.

ALK|FleetSuite Directions are transmitted wirelessly to truck cabs displaying turn-by-turn, truck-specific directions to drivers on their mobile communications devices. Hogan uses Qualcomm as their mobile communications provider.

ALK|FleetSuite Directions integrates seamlessly with transportation management and optimization software that Hogan operations uses from TMW Systems and Manhattan Associates. Prior to the implementation of ALK|FleetSuite Directions, Hogan dispatchers often gave directions to drivers based on archived customer profiles, which were not always accurate. Now, drivers have accurate directions and dispatchers can handle more revenue-producing loads.

"We love the flexibility and accuracy of ALK|FleetSuite Directions. It has been extremely easy to deploy and has already saved us time and money," said Glenn Jansen, director of information technology for Hogan Services. "ALK|FleetSuite Directions' ability to customize and reduce the number of characters has dramatically reduced our Qualcomm communications costs. In addition to the driver and dispatcher productivity improvements, the software will easily pay for itself in less than six months."

“We are very pleased to provide truck-specific directions in the cab for Hogan Transports,” said Craig Fiander, senior director, marketing for ALK. “They are a customer-focused carrier, and clearly understand the benefits of innovative technology to their customers, to their drivers and to their bottom line.”

ALK|FleetSuite Directions are meticulously engineered to provide concise turn-by-turn directions that drivers understand at a glance. In addition, the instructions are minimized, keeping the amount of actual data transmitted low. Directions are based on ALK’s industry-leading PC*MILER street-level, truck-specific database. ALK’s up-to-date information provides the most efficient routes between the shipper and receiving docks, helping drivers avoid the streets and highways that carry trucks as well as weight-restricted bridges and low clearances.
